Over

I studied bioscience engineering with a major in cellular and genetic engineering at the KU Leuven (B). After graduating in 2019, I immediately began my PhD at the Laboratory of Gene Technology (KU Leuven),  supervised by Prof. Rob Lavigne.  My doctoral research focused on the application of specialized nanopore-based genomics and transcriptomics techniques in the field of bacteriophages and microbial synthetic biology. This work fuelled my motivation to further explore the complexities of the genetic code.

After completing my PhD in 2024, I joined the Individual & Forensic (Epi)genomics group at the Department of Clinical Genetics as a postdoctoral researcher. Here, our goal is to advance our understanding of human uniqueness through (epi)genomic research for forensic applications and beyond.
