Panayiotis has graduated from the University of Reading in 2012 holding a BSc Biological Sciences degree. Later he studied his master’s degree in Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine and graduated with merit in 2014 holding an MSc Molecular Medicine degree.
Panayiotis is currently working as Cytogeneticist at the Department of Cytogenetics and Genomics of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics. His expertise is concentrated on prenatal and postnatal diagnostics with great emphasis on fertility complications among couples. Other interests include Pre-Implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) and diagnosis in patients with congenital abnormalities, developmental delay and intellectual disability. Methodologies of expertise include, prenatal and postnatal tissue culture, karyotyping, FISH studies Sperm DNA fragmentation and array-CGH.
Other hobbies include football, cycling, listening to music and cooking.
Ana Rita Soares is currently a Medical Genetics specialist at Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto, Portugal, and a Ph.D. student at Instituto Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, University of Porto. She is also Teaching Assistant of Genetics and Immunology at Master's Degree Program in Pediatric Nursing at Escola Superior de Enfermagem, University of Porto. Previously, she did her Master thesis in 2013 with the project “AZFb microdeletions and oligozoospermia - Which mechanisms?” and she graduated in 2013 at Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto, Portugal. She did her Medical Genetics residency at Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto until 2019.
During her residency, she had the opportunity to do an internship at Northern Genetics Service, NHS, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom, where, besides clinical practice, she did a clinical project on low-penetrance Copy Number Variants. She has presented several works in both national and international meetings and she is an author of several papers. She was awarded several scholarships, as well as some prizes, emphasizing SPGH Award for best oral presentation in clinical research at the 23rd SPGH Annual Meeting, best oral presentation at the 15th International Symposium of the Portuguese Society for Metabolic Disorders, 3rd prize for best poster at the 31st Joint Course On Clinical Genomics and NGS, ESHG. Currently, at her clinical practice in Medical Genetics, she is working in Genetics of Reproduction and Prenatal Medicine, Endocrinology and Neurodevelopment.
She is currently the responsible for genetic studies and genetic counselling in the hospital program for gamete donation. Her Ph.D. project focus on Genetics and Bioethics, exploring questions about genetic counselling, autonomy, informed consent and reproductive options regarding low-penetrance Copy Number Variants.
Hannaneh Parvaresh holds a master’s in cell and molecular biology from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran.
She is a scientific writer and assistant editor at the Canadian journal of IMAQPRESS.
Alice Porto Vasconcelos is a Portuguese Medical Doctor, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine from the University of Porto (FMUP), and currently in the third year of Clinical Genetics residency from a five-year program in the University Hospital Center of São João (UHCSJ), in Porto, Portugal. Throughout the residency, she has provided more than 1000 clinical genetics consultations, mostly in the fields of hematology, cardiology, neurodevelopment, connective tissue disorders, oncology, growth disorders and hearing loss.
Since UHCSJ is the only public hospital in Portugal offering preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), in 2022, Alice has been dedicating to fetal pathology, collaborating with both the Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pathology departments. International collaborations are of utmost importance for her and a main goal. She understands Portuguese, English, German, Spanish and French and did medical clinical internship in Taipei, ERASMUS program in Vienna and international genetics courses and congresses in Antwerp, Sheffield, Barcelona, Vienna and Portorož, among others. Special interests are Population and Statistical Genetics, for which her training is due in 2023.
Diana Stefania Ristea has graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Craiova in 2021. Diana is currently a Medical Geneticist in training at Regional Centre of Medical Genetics Dolj, Emergency County Hospital Craiova, Romania. She always tries to develop and improve her scientific and medical skills. Her interests include Reproductive Medicine, Obstetrics and Prenatal Healthcare.
She enjoys yoga, walking, dancing, traveling, cooking and photography.
